Community Engagement Team Leader
PURPOSE: To lead the implementation of the council’s service unit/cluster based volunteer management
processes in assigned region and service units. Responsible for the development of a council girl and adult
retention plan to meet council goals. Ensure a variety of opportunities exist across all pathways for adult
volunteers for a quality Girl Scout Leadership Experience for girls. Responsible for working cross-functionally
to design, develop and implement a coordinated community development plan related to region.
ACCOUNTABILITIES: Incumbent is accountable for, but not limited to:
• Leading the development and implementation of the integrated community development plans to
support volunteers in the delivery of the Girl Scout Leadership experience, based on the strengths
and needs of individual service units and volunteers.
• Developing and implementing a comprehensive retention plan based on council retention goals and
in alignment with council recruitment plans. Leading community engagement team to implement
plans and achieve goals. Supporting coordination of the work between the recruitment team and
retention team.
• Implementing all aspects of the volunteer program management system to provide excellent
customer service to volunteers and parents, including leading the volunteer management case
management process.
• Acting as primary coach with the service unit team volunteers, including recruitment, mentoring and
support for the effective coordination of services to troop leaders in assigned geographic area(s).
• Partnering with key volunteers and staff to cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with local
community organizations and networks to retain and build new relationships and collaborations to
increase visibility, funding options, partnerships and help address and meet Girl Scouting goals.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in related field or an equivalent combination of
education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• At least two years of staff management experience or demonstrated leadership and management
• At least two years of volunteer management experience, including training, coaching and relationship
building to achieve desired outcomes.
• Experience in assessing community needs and developing a comprehensive plan to retain girl and
adult members and in designing support systems and resources that support regional and councilwide
• Available to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
• Ability to work in a team environment with commitment to contributing to the organizational goals.
• Current valid driver’s license and functioning vehicle for work within the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio
• Understanding of the applications of the Girl Scout program, philosophy, and policies (may be
acquired upon employment).
• Successful completion of fingerprinting and a criminal background check as required by Ohio law.
• Commitment to making a difference in girls’ lives as expressed in the Ends statements; mission and
goals for girls, as noted in the Board Policy Manual.
• Other requirements as determined by Girl Scouts of Western Ohio.
