Job Description:

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) is the state’s lead economic development partner. The WEDC is currently seeking an Office of Public Policy Intern for our Madison, Wisconsin headquarters. 
The Office of Public Policy Intern will provide assistance to the Office of Public Policy Team primarily by conducting research, preparing memos, reviewing economic award files, and compiling information on those files. 
The OPP Intern will spend a majority of his/her time in these activities:
  • Technical: Verify, input, and compile project economic impact information into a database.
  • Policy Briefs: Compile policy content for the 2017-2019 biennial budget.
  • Research: Assist with answering legislative requests for information.
  • Other administrative and/or project duties as needed.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience: 
  • Current enrollment in a degree program – Public Administration, Political Science, Economics, or related field.
  • Experience or coursework in program evaluation and/or data analysis.
  • Interest or experience in economic development policy or related area.
  • Experience in a professional services environment preferred.
Skills and Talents: 
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work with strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite and other software or applications associated with assigned work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to deal effectively with senior executives, as well as diverse groups of people internal and external to the organization.
  • High level of confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism.
