Job Description:

This position is responsible for the coordination of product acquisition, shipment and product transfers across locations to ensure movement of product inventory based on customer/site location needs.  The position provides assistance in all aspects of customer service including but not limited to: product sourcing, order processing and inventory coordination.  Source materials and process orders based on customer demand and company forecasts. 


Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently, source materials, execute on incoming orders (including site locations, sales, and customers) and prepare necessary paperwork for product pickup and/or delivery. 
  • Facilitate product logistics by coordinating transfer of product between site locations, coordinating shipments through trucking companies, and providing instruction to drivers on requirements of loads as needed.
  • Track and control inventory including physical inventory counts of products stored in warehouses and bulk storage areas as required on a cycle count and annual basis.
  • Research customer inquiries and requests in regards to product orders- provide timely and accurate follow up. 
  • Administer changes to company promotions, discounts and pricing changes in ERP system on a regular basis and distribute updated price lists to plant locations on a timely basis.
  • Process wholesale orders based upon company guidelines. 
  • Prepare and maintain material requirements reporting. 
  • Assist the Vice President of Procurement, in the management of raw material and other indirect product costs. 
  • Provide support to plants on ERP troubleshooting issues. 
  • Prepare contracts for approval by obtaining competitive bids, reviewing proposals, assisting in price and term negotiations, and qualifying suppliers.
  • Analyze supplier operations to determine factors that influence pricing, quality, and supply performance. Utilize statistical data to drive material cost savings. 
  • Proactively collaborate with the supplier base and internal customers to resolve issues related to quality, product performance, supply, and project achievement.
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures to gain efficiencies within the ERP system and the department. 
  • Update and maintain supplier information in corporate database in accordance with regulatory standards. 
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for fertilizer, including but not limited to: OMRI, tonnage tax, state regulations, etc.
  • Work with Site Managers to support the execution of projects, which affect the facility site.
  • Provide backup and assistance to staff as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) and/or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience within the agriculture industry (preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years previous experience in a purchasing role (preferred) and previous experience in a customer service related role, both in person and via phone
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages and ratios to practical applications
  • High systems aptitude, advanced knowledge of Excel, detail orientated
  • ERP knowledge required, Net Suite knowledge preferred.
  • Must be able to read, analyze and interpret written procedures and reports.
  • Demonstrate planning, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction with vendors, customers, fellow employees (via telephone, face-to-face and email) and the public.
  • Proven ability to work independently while achieving desired results through a collective team effort.
  • Must be self-driven, resilient, and have a positive team-first attitude.
