Job Description:

~~The College Intern assigned to the Appraisal Division of the Assessor’s Office will assist staff with research projects, develop reports, and provide departmental support services by collecting, analyzing, maintaining, and presenting research data and information related to residential and commercial property values and adjustments.

The College Intern will work on a part-time basis, approximately 20 hours per week, while enrolled in an accredited college or university.

Essential Functions

•Assist with analytical studies related to assessed values. 
•Create documentation related to internal business processes.
•Gather comparative operations data from the assessor’s offices of similar municipalities to generate reports intended to improve quality and efficiency in the Milwaukee Assessor’s Office operations.
•Review web pages of assessor’s offices from similar municipalities, compile information and make recommendations regarding ways to improve the information provided to the public through the Milwaukee Assessor’s office web pages.
•Assist with the creation of bi-annual city-wide trend reports, such as neighborhood trends, increasing and decreasing sales values, investment amount by geographic area, or similar analysis relating to real estate values.
•Assist with data collection for the reports listed above, which may include visiting property sites, title companies and various archiving and reference entities.
•Provide information and/or reports relating to property sales, assessments, appraisals and valuations for assessment managers, relators, title companies, appraisers, City departments, and the general public.
•Review and proofread mathematical computations on personal property statements for accuracy.
•Assist with exemption applications by checking applications for accuracy and completeness; perform field reviews for current use of properties.

Job Requirements:

Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, including coursework in statistics, urban planning, business, information systems, real estate, public administration, economics or a closely related field.
