JOB SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Finance, the Payroll & Benefits Associate is a part-time position that will be administratively responsible for the accurate processing and maintenance of payroll records to achieve timely payment of salaries, benefits, deductions and various payroll taxes. This position will also be responsible for managing employee benefit enrollments, changes and terminations; as well as reconciling monthly invoices for all benefit providers. The Payroll & Benefits Associate will also process all onboarding paperwork for new employees; ensuring accuracy of information is entered within the system.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for bi-weekly payroll preparation to include: reviewing and computing employee time cards, reviewing pay data entered by supervisors and/or HR, ensuring accuracy of payroll prior to submitting for approval
  • Contact department supervisors for any discrepancies or errors
  • Compile payroll data such as garnishments, PTO time, and Insurance and payroll deductions
  • Ensure that wage deductions, deposits, adjustments and garnishments are applied appropriately
  • Prepares all weekly, bi-weekly payroll, month-end payroll journals, deduction register, quarterly/year end reporting, and department of Labor reports
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws
  • Handles all Unemployment reporting and claims
  • Responsible for processing enrollments, making changes and terminations for all benefit plans in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Reconcile Invoices, resolve discrepancies and ensure timely monthly payments to providers
  • Serves as primary contact for software support.
  • Work effectively with all Marcus Center team members.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
Associate Degree and/or 2 years of experience
 
 
Collaborative Skills:
  • A high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations
  • Ability to interact and communicate with all levels within Marcus Center
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Must be a collaborative team player 
 
Contact Responsibilities:
Will be required to communicate with customers, vendors and other employees.  Requires the use of tact and good judgment.
 
Language Skills:
Position requires above average written and oral skills.  Must be able to compose a logical and orderly business letters for customers and user groups.  Must be able to write inter-company correspondence payroll policies and practices.
 
Mathematical Skills:
Position requires above average mathematical skills.
 
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems.
 
Other Skills and Abilities:
Must be proficient with the use of a calculator and computer.  Must be knowledgeable in the use of Computer Software such as, Excel, Word, Paylocity, or similar software packages.
 
Supervision:
Must be able to function with little supervision.
